Who We Are
Grandmothers for Africa is a group of South Okanagan grandmothers and grandothers, who fund raise for the Stephen Lewis Foundation, to support African grandmothers who are raising a generation of children orphaned by AIDS. The Grandmothers support, through the Stephen Lewis Foundation, was founded in the South Okanagan in 2006. The South Okanagan group has approximately 25 active members and many more supporters who volunteer their time when needed. Membership is free.
What We Do
The group meets 10 months of the year to plan fund raising events and share stories about the impact of their work. It is a democratic group with chair and secretary duties rotating among the members. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30am in the parlour of the Penticton United Church on Main Street downtown (the Blue Church).
